If you are not willing to risk the unusual, Karen Morrow, Everyday Hero
Usually we say the opposite, “I wish I didn’t have to go to work”. “I wish my life was different. I would give anything to find peace and happiness”. This month we acknowledge, Karen Morrow, of St. Louis, MO, as someone who was not willing to settle for an ordinary life. Karen took on doing something different to find value, peace and happiness in herself and those around her, for that we recognize Karen, as this months everyday HERO! Karen is the District Manager of more than 20 sales consultants for the nationally known direct sales designer fashion company called, “Doncaster”. Karen, the oldest of 4, grew up the responsible sibling. Being someone, who takes charge and gets things done. Noted for producing amazing results, comes naturally, however; being consistently happy while doing that is a struggle. As a leader, Karen knows what to do. Managing and paying attention to the details of her business is easy, but having an amazing personal life has been difficult to achieve. As Karen states, “She was a worrier, had anxieties and fears, often wondering how she ended up in a dysfunctional personal relationship? How did she become separated from her family, not trusting others or herself? Why was she not happy? Powerfully choosing to take on being coached by a Personal Life Coach and discover why she felt tired and unhappy was risky, but one of the best life decisions she made. One of the first things Karen noticed about herself was that her determination to get things done didn’t support who she really was. Karen believed that if it was going to get done and done right, she would have to do it. Her team used to call her the, “Side walk Natz”. Her arrogance and competitiveness isolated her. “I didn’t know how to embrace the support of others”, says Karen. Karen realized that trying to do it all by herself was one way to operate. Coaching taught her how to be more effective in her communication, and share with others not only what was important to her, but what she wanted to do for them. “I am not stuck, I do have choices”, says Karen. Focusing on what she values, giving up her complaints about herself and others has brought Karen joy, laughter and happiness both personally and professionally. True happiness comes when you find that one thing about yourself that makes you like nobody else. Reuniting and building relationships with family, friends, and her community is what Karen loves most. Life is so exciting! Being involved with her family and her team of consultants, supporting them to achieve their goals and have a life of their dreams is rewarding. Karen has been recognized by Doncaster as one of the top consultants in sales achievement in the nation for the past 10 years. Karen enjoys being involved and is dedicated to women helping women and children by supporting nationally known organizations, “Connections to Success”, ALIVE, Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition and “Lydia’s House”. |
